When using an image from BotanicPhotos am I required to add copyright information? A credit is our form of currency. We convert all currencies around the world to our credit system thus providing equal value to all customers. 1 credit = $2 (AUD)
Please note Botanic Photos makes every effort to provide equal value in all countries however currency value change on a daily basis.
The minimum number of credits a member can purchase per transaction is 5 credits ($10 AUD) It is possible to purchase more credits and discounts apply to bulk purchases.
There are three easy methods to search for images on Botanic Photos. On the Home page you can enter a keyword(s) in the search box and click on the search button. Second, click on one of the images to go to the gallery.
You can select a category or gallery search link on the side menu once you have navigated from the home page. Each search option should display a number of images for you to choose from.
If the image is used as a decorative feature for brochures, magazine ads, websites, professional documents etc. then you may buy a Standard Royalty Free Licence which is part of the purchase price. Depending on the size of the project select either the XS, S, M, or L image. Read more about Standard Licences
However, if the image is to be integrated into an item for resale such as postcards, posters, websites templates etc then you need an Extended License. More about Extended Licences

To pay by wire transfer or Cheque you will need to order a minimum of 120 credits. Please follow these instructions if you wish to purchase credits via wire transfer:
Step one : Create an account
Step two : Send us the number of credits you need plus your login information to admin@botanicphotos.com
Step three : We will send you an invoice and our bank information and add the credits to your account once payment is confirmed.
After you purchase an image you have 48 hours to download the photo before the download link expires
Yes Botanic Photos offers free low resolution comp images to be used for layout purposes only. To download a comp image simply click on the “Download a Comp" link on the photo details page of the photo you like. Comp images may not be used on your final project.
No, none of our licenses allow you to resell or transfer the rights of the license of the photo. You can only sell the work you made for your direct client but they won’t have the right to remove the photo from the work for another use. If your client wants to freely use the image, they will have to buy the correct license on Botanic Photos.
Botanic Photos offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee, so please contact customer support with the image ID and any concerns you might have with the image.
Starting June 1, 2009, all new credit purchases will be good for 1 year from date of purchase. We encourage members to spend all their credits within the year. Any unused credits will expire after 1 year and will be removed from the members account.
Everyone can become a Botanic Photos contributor. If you have great images (JPEG) then you may create an account and submit your images for us to review. Before you may upload your images, you will need to become a member. After successfully joining as a member and logging into to the website, you may upload images by going to the “My Profile" page and clicking on the Load a photography options.
You will be prompted to enter some important information such as Category, keywords (single words), description and title. The images are then sent to our editors who will review them and if they have been accepted they will be uploaded to the site.
To sell your images on Botanic Photos, your files need to follow the criteria below:
Images must be in JPEG format
Image resolution shall not be less than 1200 x 1600 pixels in dimension
Images should have normal aspect ratios (portrait is acceptable but landscape aspect is preferred)
We accepts files 1600 x 1200 pixels or larger. Any file smaller than 1600 x 1200 pixels will be declined. As a rule for image sizes, the bigger the better. BotanicPhotos will not accept files that have been up-sampled, (increasing the size / dpi to be larger than that of the original file size)
You should be the copyright owner of all files you upload on Botanic Photos
You shall not upload images representing logos or trademarks protected.
You shall not upload images representing constructions, goods or places protected by an intellectual property right
Uploading Images
To upload your image successfully your images need to be compliant with the following:
You only need to upload your largest image.
Restrictions on our current server means there is a limitation on the maximum file size which can be uploaded.
Simply put – if you crop your image to 8x12 or 8x10 300 dpi and save the copy as JPEG resolution High (8) you will have no issues.
The uploaded image is automatically resized to the available sizes for sale.
If the original file is larger- keep it! You will be notified when our server is upgraded and we will in future be selling series on DVDs, so larger files may be needed. If we have a request for your file in a larger format we will contact you.
Botanic Photos is always looking for high quality images from any botanical aspect (think botanical gardens). We encourage you to review the images currently on the website and pay close attention to current advertising trends for ideas.
We are audacious in our goal to become the foremost website for botanical images so we are looking for broad and varied images. We want all Stock images which can be used for catalogues, nurseries, labels, etc and artistic images for wall art, posters, and calendars greeting cards. The list is endless. So if you know the botanical name as well as the common name of your image, please include it in either the title or the description.
Uploading images is completely free. Botanic Photos pays royalties on images that are sold.
Please allow up to 48 hours for approved images to be added to our searchable index.
Each time one of your images is sold on Botanic Photos, your royalty from the sale is added to your Botanic Photos account. Once you accumulate a minimum of $50AUD we will transfer your royalties via PayPal or Direct deposit to the account specified in your account details (your preferred method). The royalties paid amount depends on the image purchased (size) and the contract entered into (Standard or Exclusive) with Botanic Photos. Further payment details may be found on the link. Yes, you may delete your image from your account and the Botanic Photos website by clicking on the delete button your My photographs area in the “My profile" section.
To start selling your images you need to first log into your account and click on “My Profile." While on the “My Profile" page you need to select Load a photograph.
You will then go to Step 1 select a category. If there is not a category for your particular image select “other” and a new category will be created by our editors if the name of the flower is known. The file is uploaded in Step 2. Add your photo. This allows you to select the image you wish to upload from its location eg your computer) Step 3. Add a title, Step 4 Add a description and step 5. Add your keywords. Maximum of 5 keywords.
Indexation of our catalogue consists of your title, keywords, and categories so try to be specific and descriptive.
Your image will be reviewed by our photo editors who will decide if your image will be displayed on the website to be sold. If your photo is rejected we will notify you via email, if the photo was accepted it will be displayed on the site for sale.
This process generally takes between 24 and 48 hours. But, if too many images are received, this time may be delayed.
Botanic Photos receives thousands of images to be reviewed every day and we are not able to accept every image, some images must be declined. Often images are declined for technical reasons such as noise, and exposure. Images may also be declined because the images do not meet our current needs or our editors feel the images may not be marketable.
While it is impossible for us to know exactly how your images are being used by our buyers they are required to use our images within the license guidelines. Please note it is strictly forbidden for you to contact buyers.
Our photographers are worldwide. We currently have photographers who contribute to the success of Botanic Photos from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, Spain, Italy, New Zealand and of course Australia. All photographers are welcome!
Both agreements have a standard thrity (30) days notice for termination. You will have to terminate one agreement and change it for a new one. If you wish to do so contact admin@botanicphotos.com
